California Proposition 65 Warning
Last updated: 2026-06-17
Background
California Proposition 65 (officially the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) requires businesses to warn California consumers about exposures to chemicals known to the state to cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm.
Natural crystals and gemstones may contain trace amounts of metals (e.g., lead, nickel, chromium) that are on the Prop 65 list. Even though the levels in our products are extremely low — typical of natural mineralogy and well below thresholds in jewelry industry safety standards — we are required by California law to provide a warning to California residents.

Why this warning appears
Natural crystal jewelry is made from raw mineralogical material. In their natural form, crystals can contain trace amounts of metallic elements that are listed by the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) under Proposition 65.
The chemicals most commonly associated with crystal jewelry are:
- Lead — naturally occurring in some crystal varieties
- Nickel — present in some metallic components (clasps, charms)
- Chromium — in select crystals
Are our products safe?
Yes. Our products are:
- Made from natural crystal — not lab-treated or chemically enhanced
- Tested for the levels typically present in fine jewelry
- Compliant with federal CPSC standards for jewelry safety
- Suitable for adult wear (not intended for children under 12)
The Prop 65 warning is a California-specific notification requirement, not an indication that the product is unsafe for normal use. Many premium jewelry brands (including those at department stores) include this warning for the same reason.
How to minimize even trace exposure
- Do not put crystal jewelry in your mouth
- Wash hands after extended handling
- Remove jewelry before sleeping or showering (extends product life regardless)
- Keep out of reach of children under 12
