Welcome to The Linscent. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of thelinscent.com (the "Site") and our products and services. By accessing the Site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who we are
The Linscent is a premium crystal bracelet and Chinese astrology brand operated from China. The Site is hosted on Shopify and serves customers primarily in the United States.
Founder: Mengkai Yang, a Chinese woman based in Shenzhen, China.

2. Eligibility
You must be 18 years or older to purchase from The Linscent or use our services. By placing an order, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. Products
3.1 Crystal bracelets
Each bracelet is made from natural crystal. Each piece is individually selected and unique. Natural variations in color, transparency, internal formation, and bead distribution are inherent to the material and are part of what makes each bracelet a personal piece — they are not defects.
3.2 Five Elements Quiz (free)
Our free quiz uses your birth date, time, and time zone to calculate your dominant Five Elements profile (Wood / Fire / Earth / Metal / Water). The calculation is based on traditional Chinese BaZi (四柱八字) astrological method, referencing classical sources including 易经 (I Ching) and 滴天髓.
The quiz is for personal reflection and product recommendation only. It is not a substitute for professional advice (see § 7).
3.3 Reading Service (paid add-on)
Our optional Reading service provides a personalized written hexagram reflection based on your birth data, a specific question you submit, and a hexagram cast by you using three coins. Readings are delivered as PDF within 48 hours.
Reading is a ritual reflection service, not a prediction service. See /pages/disclaimer for full disclaimer language.
4. Pricing and payment
- All prices are in US dollars (USD) and exclude sales tax (calculated at checkout based on shipping address).
- Payment is processed by Stripe / Shopify Payments. We accept major credit cards.
- We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order for reasons including (but not limited to) suspected fraud, product unavailability, or pricing errors.
5. Shipping
International shipping from China to the United States via expedited e-commerce small parcel. Typical delivery: 7-14 business days after dispatch. See Shipping Policy for details.
6. Returns and refunds
All sales are final. Returns are not accepted except for defective items reported within 7 days of receipt with photo evidence.
This policy reflects:
- The handcrafted, individually-selected nature of natural crystal jewelry
- International logistics costs that make traditional returns commercially infeasible
- Industry standard for premium artisanal pieces (compare: Jacquie Aiche, select Catbird items, Auvere)

7. No professional advice
The Linscent's products, quiz results, Reading services, and any related content are provided for personal reflection and enjoyment only. They are not:
- Medical advice
- Mental health treatment
- Financial advice
- Legal advice
- Substitute for professional consultation
If you are experiencing a medical, mental health, financial, or legal crisis, please consult a qualified professional.
We make no guarantees of specific outcomes, benefits, healing, or life changes from wearing crystal bracelets or receiving Reading services.
8. Cultural integrity
The Linscent draws from authentic Chinese metaphysical traditions including BaZi 四柱八字, Five Elements 五行, and I Ching 易经. We are committed to:
- Treating these traditions with respect
- Crediting source material
- Avoiding sensationalized "fortune-telling" framing
- Translating depth, not exoticism, for our English-speaking audience
If you believe any of our content misrepresents these traditions, please contact us — we welcome the dialogue.
9. Intellectual property
All content on the Site — including text, images, logos, product designs, quiz logic, and Reading templates — is owned by The Linscent or its licensors and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You may not:
- Copy, reproduce, or republish our content without written permission
- Use our trademarks or brand identity without authorization
- Reverse engineer or scrape our quiz / Reading algorithms
You may share product images on personal social media with credit to @thelinscent.
10. User submissions
When you submit information through our quiz, Reading service, or contact forms, you grant us a limited license to use that information solely to provide the requested service. We will not publish identifiable personal data without your consent.
11. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to bypass security measures
- Submit false information
- Spam, harass, or harm other users
- Use automated tools to scrape or extract data
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Linscent and its founder, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Loss of profits, data, or goodwill
- Any decision you make based on our products, quiz, or Reading services
- Any health, financial, or life outcome attributed to our products
Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the relevant product or service in the preceding 12 months.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Linscent from any claims arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of our products/services.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
Any dispute shall be resolved through:
- First, good-faith email negotiation (30 days)
- If unresolved, binding arbitration in San Francisco, California, under the rules of the American Arbitration Association
You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit against The Linscent.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be notified via email to registered customers.
